K: What’s the biggest lie you have ever told?
Oh jeez there have been a few…well A LOT, there have been many times when I’ve lied about what I’ve eaten, I’ve faked my weight, and there’s a few times when someone’s been like do you fancy so-and-so and I’m like Nooo when really I do lol
100% normal and good! Processed foods or “junk foods” (honestly, not the best word for food cause food isn’t junk) are easier to digest and absolutely WONDERFUL for your recovering body. You’re eating yummy things and nourishing your body. Usually, they’re higher in calories and fats and sugars, which your body desperately needs to survive, let alone recover from an extreme imbalance of energy, i.e. your eating disorder. Eat whatever you want, as long as its not a disordered choice and you’re hitting the minimum calories that you need to be hitting :)
Ah ok dokie, that sucks. Everyone needs time out man. Even Katniss goes to sleep in the tree in THG. And she’s super. Don’t ever let anyone judge you for a basic right such as sleeping and energising your body. Chances are, them folk that don’t energise themselves aren’t working optimally anyway so more fool them! :)
Why is being hungry and getting something to eat seen as something shameful and bad when being thirsty and getting something to drink is the same thing and it’s seen as completely normal?
Why is it also non shameful to have an extra hour in bed if you’re tired. Put on another jumper if you’re cold. Breathe a bit deeper if you need a bit of extra breath…
Aha yeah she says it all the time (to my face!) and she always looks disgusted like a pint of ice cream what an absolute atrocity. And yeah she knows I have an ED. She can be very helpful and comforting, but as one of my other friends says about her - she simply has no filter. At all. You know, most people think ‘I might keep that to myself’ or ‘it’ll sound crazy if I say that’ she just seems to skip the thinking process and just blurt it out. 90% of the time it provides high comedic value, but the last 10% it can be either a bit hurtful or irritating. I do think my friends underestimate how bad stuff is with me, like one of my close friends thought that for me it was simply about wanting ‘control’ so that’s why I ‘controlled’ what I ate, but I did explain to her that it’s about a lot of other things too. I guess ordinary people can quite fathom it and understand the depths of it! Thankyou lovey

No, seriously. Like, my friend left an insanely triggering comment on my pic of my pint last night, and tbh, you just shrug it off and be like puh-lease it’s just more yummy points for me (think of that guy on that gif that says something like how calories are yum points and the higher they are the more yummier it is). Most ‘normal’ people don’t notice how much they eat, cos they don’t focus on it, and they probably notice how ‘much’ you eat because they’re like ‘omg they’ve got an ed must notice every morsel that gets put in their mouth’. I’m the same tho, it feel like I eat tonnes, but we don’t, it’s cos like…’normal’ people munch on bits in the day, they eat unknown calories, they add bits here there and everywhere, they drink calories…like a ‘normal’ (sorry I keep putting ‘normal’ in apostrophes) person might be like ‘let’s nick a few of your crisps’, then taste a couple of spoonfuls of tea when it’s cooking, then when they’re grating some cheese for a sandwich, they’ll munch on a bit of that, and have a glass of juice cos they’re thirsty without thinking about it, whereas an ed person will over process that and add it all up and blah blah.
It’s ok tho! Plus, I forgot to mention, often people with EDs (or recovering should I say) go hypermetabolic and need more calories to maintain a healthy weight, and the idea is that you don’t reduce your calories for maintenance anyway so I’m so proud of you for saying yes I will continue to eat ice cream pints and what I want in remission, that is a perfect attitude to have.
